On the average, smokers weigh seven pounds less than non-smokers. Finally, there are people that says smoking is what they love. Smoking gives them pleasure. Feeling good is what it makes them.
Hundreds of thousands of people around the world die from diseases caused by smoking cigarettes every year. A number of cancers is contributed by tobacco smoking. Smoking causes around one in five deaths from heart disease. Heart attacks and strokes are also the effects of smoking. It slows your blood flow, cutting off oxygen to your feet and hands. Some smokers end up having their limbs amputated.
But can you stop smoking? First, positively decide that you want to quit. Negative thoughts about how difficult it might be should be avoided. Reasons why you want to quit should be listed. Repeat one of the reasons 10 times, every night before going to bed. In quitting set a target date.
Quitting isn't easy, but it's not impossible either, a realistic expectation you should have. Understand that withdrawal symptoms are just for the meantime. It will only take about 1-2 weeks.
Look for a brand that you find distasteful then switch. Cutting down the number of cigarettes you smoke should be done. Only smoke a half of each cigarette. Postpone lighting your first cigarette each day for one hour. Make smoking unpleasant. Collect all your cigarette butts in one large glass container as a visual reminder of the filth smoking represents. Practice going out without having any cigarettes.
On the day you quit, throw away all your cigarettes and matches. Have all those lighters and ashtrays out sight. Don't be tempted. Instead of smoking after meals, get up from the table and brush your teeth or go for a walk. Find new habits. Get plenty of rest. Have some time for the activities that are most meaningful, satisfying and important to you.
